Learn the basics of sewing while creating your own sweater! This short, elegant jumper matches perfectly with your high-waisted trousers. And it is possible to make this piece in only one day. The workshops gives you the opportunity to learn basic skills, like sewing, cutting, stitching. Guidance and design by fashion designer Ayla van Maarschalkerweerd. We will use GOTS certified organic fabric (100% cotton).

The coat, not a piece you would maybe normally chose to make during the normal sewing lessons, because it can take some time. This course gives you the opportunity to take this time and of course give you the guidance. Also, with this workshop, it is possible to make the coat of your own wishes. We start with a base pattern that fits best to your idea and you can decide yourself upon the details of the coat (what kind of pockets, collar and closure you’d like). It will give you inside in adjusting patterns to your wishes and have a closer look at the fit of the coat (fitted to your body type).
Skills you'll learn:

– Learn to sew a zipper or button closure
– Learn to sew a collar
– Learn to work with wool and lining.
– 8 weeks (3h per week) of professional guidance throughout the process, step by step guidance for all the details of your coat by Ayla.

*NOTE: You can join as a beginner, if we choose a design and fabric which is not too complicated.
**It could be necessary to do a little bit of sewing homework in this course if you’re able to do that at home.
In this course we want to create the patterns which you can use to create the perfect small wardrobe with the designs of you wishes. In a minimalistic wardrobe like this, you need the pieces that bring you most joy and offer the best fit for you body. If the fit and style fits you as a person really well, you can still use these patterns for years. You can always re-make them again in a new fabric!
The 8 classes:
> Lesson 1. Perfect Skirt(s)
What type of skirt is the best fit for your body? In this first lesson you can bring the ideas for one or more skirt(s) you’d like to make the pattern of. You will also learn the best techniques of sewing details of the skirt (like different types of closures, waistband, split).
> 2. Favorite Trousers
In this lesson you will create your perfect trousers, with all the details that go with it. Choose for example a pleated pants, go high-waisted or not, use a flared leg or straight etc. In this lesson you will also go more in depth of how you can sew the best details of the trousers, like the fly, and different pockets.
> 3. Dress to Impress
What is the best type of dress to emphasize the best features of your body? Besides creating your own dress pattern, we will take the time to explore the best ways of creating shape in a basic top pattern (shifting darts and seams).
> 4. Top / T-shirt
The perfect top or t-shirt is essential in your closed. Next to your own shirt- or top-design, we will go more in depth of the type of sleeves you can create with pattern drawing.
> 5. Detailed Blouse
A blouse has a lot of details. Wit this lesson you will create this elaborate pattern for your own blouse. For example, how do you draft a collar? Besides that we will discuss and practice different sewing techniques like sewing a collar, split, cuff etc.
> 6. Fitted Jacket
A well tailored jacket can be really classy and practical. In this lesson we will create your own style jacket. And: how do you draft and sew the perfect lapel?
> 7. Versatile Coat
Coat time! As your final pattern you will create your own coat. Learn also about different ways of drafting and sewing details like lining and pockets.
> 8. Extra individual lesson
What do you need to finish? Where do you nee help? Ask all the questions you might have!
In this course you will work individually, most of the time. In the lesson we will take your own level, process and experience in consideration. That’s why max. 6 people can attend. So someone that is more experienced in sewing techniques will focus more on patterns and the other way around. Every lesson you will bring your own design ideas (picture(s) and/or drawing(s)) to the lesson (and prototype fabric). Sometimes it is nice to do some homework in between. If you feel one of the pieces of the lessons doesn’t fit your wardrobe we will have a look together at alternatives (to really create your own perfect wardrobe!).
